There’s a little treasure hidden in Linh Lang Lane between the Deawoo Hanoi Hotel and the Austrian Embassy. Nam An serves entirely vegetarian food. Owner Ms. Hang, a vegetarian for four years, took it over early last year. Nam An has been open for almost ten years. The formner owner was a cancer patient who his recovery to his vegetarian diet.
The restaurant serves such dishes as wholegrain brown rice, black and white sesame and seaweed, foods that are believed to detoxify the body and purify the blood. Other specialities include brown rice broth with gomashio, wakame (seaweed salad), sweet and sour mock pork, tofu and stirfried mustand greens.
Most meals cost VND40,000 –VND50,000 a person. The restaurant also offers take-away lunch boxes for VND15,000 and VND20,000; black bread is VND7,000.
The Guide happily recommends this reataurant for vegetarians or just veggie lovers. Don’t expect fancy décor: Nam An is all about healthy food.
