Dong Da festival

Dong Da festival (in Dong Da district, Ha Noi capital) takes place annually in the fifth day or January 5th of Tet (lunar new year occasion).

This is a carnival of victory. People organize it to conmemorate glorious feat of arms in the history of fighting against foreign invaders that are led by King Quang Trung (Nguyen Hue). The ceremonial is held in Khuong Thuong communal house of village, the ceremony for peace of souls, in the mean time, occurs in Dong Quang pegoda.

After “Thang Long fire dragon” welcome activity, there is time for incense sending and literature reading ceremony. Besides, Dong Da festival is the occasion where people have a chance to participate in many kinds of games requiring talents, intelligence and those are organized in historial Dong Da mound.
